In February EWB joined forces with Gaia Education to bring the powerful conversation oriented Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) multiplier training to Melbourne, Australia.

Facilitated by Gaia Education CEO and UNITAR Fellow May East, the training brought together 30 changemakers from a diversity of backgrounds such as engineering, impact investing, architecture, regenerative tourism and permaculture. Hosted at the Swinburne University Moondani Toombadool Center for Indigenous matters the group discussed unpacked the importance of the SDG’s while identifying policy, projects and resources that could support implementation of the goals.

“SDG Multiplier Conversations translate the SDG’s from a UN level framework, to participatory conversations that allow people to embed the SDG’s within their organisations, work and projects.“For me it was really powerful to understand where we exist on the timeline of the United Nations sustainability conversation and history before we landed at the SDG’s. I saw the legacy of the work of all those who came before us. It’s an exciting and important time to act – these conversations are a refreshingly inspiring way forward!” – Shenuka Peiris, Mobilisation Coordinator, EWB
