In accordance with the EWB Australia Constitution, EWB is currently calling for nominations, to elect up to two voting members to our Board of Directors. Nominations close Sunday 31st October 2021.

Being a Board Director allows you to contribute your skills and experience to create a world where technology benefits all. It also brings personal and professional benefits as you learn and grow in the role. Shane Kennelly, one of our current Board Directors, reflected that:

“As a proud Bundjalung man, I’m passionate about increasing the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. I’m pleased to contribute my skills and experience on EWB Australia’s Board.”

Board Directors must be prepared to bring their background, skills, experience and relationships to enhance the Board’s ability to perform its role, and bring independent and robust judgement, and active participation to EWB Australia. To undertake its duties the Board seeks a diverse composition of Directors to ensure that these capabilities are aligned to enable us to harness the potential of engineering to create an equitable reality for the planet and its people. Consequently, at this election we are seeking nominations from members with a specific range of skills and experience to contribute. The Capability Statement outlines these further, and identifies the current gaps in diversity and experience in our current board composition:

  • Mid/Senior career (Executive and Senior Management) and Retired professionals
  • Women and non-binary genders
  • People who identify as having a disability

with experience in:

  • Major donors, trusts and philanthropic foundations
  • Organisational fundraising / revenue and income generation
  • Marketing and public relations
  • Media, advocacy, and public policy
  • International development and humanitarian response
  • Social enterprise and impact investment
  • Corporate engineering firms
  • Universities
  • Australian Government
