Keynote speaker at “Beyond keep cups and solar panels: Reimagining the role of the technical sector in the face of climate change” – Thursday 13th February, 2020, Melbourne.

Eleanor Loudon is the CEO of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Australia. Eleanor leads a team of more than 30 staff and hundreds of volunteers to implement a strategy that is aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals. Her leadership enables community teams in Australia, Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu to track and deliver impact, supporting the education, training and mobilisation teams to shape human-centred, values-driven engineers, so that one day EWB is no longer needed.

Her vision is that all engineers will be thinking about community and sustainability first.

Driven by a passion for the importance of the for-purpose sector in local, national and global conversations, she gets a kick from strengthening organisations so that they can commit to the timeframes needed to achieve real results.  At EWB Australia, this means unlocking value across the organisation to build a stable funding base.

As a former Director of ChildFund International in Sri Lanka and Manager of the Australian Volunteer Program in Cambodia and Thailand, Eleanor combines her experience of living and working internationally with an understanding of working cross-culturally and engaging deeply with communities.
