At the Sydney Division Awards held on September we were recognised in the Education and Training category, which seeks to award innovative engineering courses, subjects, projects or other innovative educational initiatives.
Our awarded program includes four initiatives () High School Outreach – where EWB members present interactive hands-on modules to schools students; () EWB Challenge – the first year student design program where thousands of engineering students develop ideas for one of our community partners; () EWB Research Program – a program for final year and honours students to develop humanitarian technologies in support of community projects; and () the Development Education Leadership Experience a month-long study tour through India and Cambodia.
Curriculum and Research Coordinator Julian O’Shea said, “this is an outstanding result for EWB, and reflects the high quality education programs we deliver, with the incredible support of our active members, and partner organisations”.
As winner of a Division Award, we will in the running for a National Award at an event to be held at Parliament House, Canberra in November.
