Digital Design Summit

Expand your uni experience through a brand new virtual study immersive. Start your Impact Journey.

For six years, EWB’s Humanitarian Design Summits have created a transformative learning experience like no other. These study tours challenge thinking, push boundaries, and create first-hand understanding of just how important a role engineers can play in creating positive change. Catalysed by recent travel restrictions, the Digital Design Summit has come to life – offering an alternative, equally expansive, experience in an online environment

Participating students will gain experience in:

  • Humanitarian engineering skills and insights
  • Appropriate technology best-practice
  • Designing in resource constrained environments
  • Working with community and clients on needs analysis and problem definition
  • Evaluating solutions including maintenance, materials and cost
  • Rapid prototyping and development
  • Client engagement and communication
  • Cross-cultural engagement, teamwork and project management.
Participation in the Design Summit program is secured by your $500 deposit and a $1,000 program fee. Students may be eligible for financial assistance through an NCP grant.

Participants on the Digital Design Summit will undertake up to 100 hours of engineering work experience during the four-week program.

Eligible Applicants

The EWB Digital Design Summit is open to students currently enrolled in an undergraduate technical field of study in Australia or New Zealand. We also welcome students from other disciplines.

You are aware of the global challenges we face and see the opportunity you have to contribute, using your burgeoning career and work as a tool for positive impact. You want to go beyond the theory and see another side of the conversation, to see how your technical skills can make an impact on the change you want to see in the world.

“I had a wonderful experience in the EWB Digital Design Summit! The program was well-structured and professionally planned to provide the participants with the best learning experience. The program helped me to think from a different angle, both when solving problems and working as a team.”
